How to save Telegram voice messages on Android
The steps vary a little between Telegram versions. Try these in order:
- Message menu: Long-press the voice message. Tap the three dots, if you see them. Look for Save to Downloads or Save to Music.
- Forward to Saved Messages: Long-press the message and tap Forward. Pick Saved Messages. This keeps a copy in your cloud chat. You can then save it from Telegram Desktop.
- Share to another app: Some versions let you share the message to Gmail, Drive or a file manager.
Saved files usually end up in your phone’s Download > Telegram or Music > Telegram folder.
How to save Telegram voice messages on iPhone
- Long-press the voice message.
- Tap Forward.

Saving messages one by one gets slow. Telegram Desktop can export a whole chat, including every voice message.
- Open the chat in Telegram Desktop.

- Pick a date range and a folder, then click Export.

Where does Telegram store voice messages?

Handy tricks for long voice messages
Some people send five-minute voice messages. The online player makes them easier to deal with:
- Speed it up. Set playback to 1.5× or 2×. Speech is still easy to follow.
- Jump around. Click the waveform to skip to the part you need.
- Trim it. Keep just the useful 20 seconds and save that as an MP3.

A note on privacy

Troubleshooting
The saved file won’t play
Your player may not support Opus. Try VLC or the online player. If those fail too, save the message again. The first copy may be incomplete.
I can’t find the saved file
On a computer, check Downloads and Downloads > Telegram Desktop. On Android, check Download > Telegram. You can also search for .ogg in your file manager.
“Save As” is missing on desktop
Update Telegram Desktop. Very old versions and some third-party Telegram apps have different menus.
The file ends in .oga instead of .ogg
