Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 25, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how openoggfile.com (“we,” “us” or “our”) handles information when you use our website and our free online OGG player and converter (the “Tool”).

The short version: your audio files never leave your device. The Tool runs entirely inside your web browser. We don’t upload, store or listen to your files.

If you have any questions, email us at hello@openoggfile.com.

1. Your audio files

When you open, play, trim or convert a file with the Tool:

  • the file is read by your own browser, on your own device;
  • all playback, trimming and conversion (to MP3 or WAV) happens locally in your browser;
  • the file is not uploaded to our server or to any third party;
  • we can’t see, access, keep or share the contents of your files.

When you close or refresh the page, the file is released from your browser’s memory. Any file you download (for example, a converted MP3) is saved only to your device.

2. Information we collect

We try to collect as little as possible.

Information you send us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you choose to attach. We use this only to reply and help you.

If you leave a comment on a blog post (where comments are open), we collect the name, email address and website you enter, the comment itself, and your IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam. Your email address is never shown publicly.

Information collected automatically

Like almost every website, our web server and hosting provider automatically record basic technical data when you visit, such as:

  • your IP address,
  • browser type and version,
  • the pages you visit and the time of your visit,
  • the referring website, if any.

These server logs are used to keep the site secure, fix errors and prevent abuse. They are kept for a limited time and are not used to identify you personally.

Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics or statistics tools to understand how many people visit the site and which pages are popular. Where we do, the data is aggregated and is not used to identify individual visitors. If we add a service that uses cookies for this purpose, we’ll update this policy and our Cookie Policy.

3. Cookies

Ordinary visitors to openoggfile.com don’t need to accept any cookies to use the Tool. WordPress may set cookies if you leave a comment (to remember your name and email) or if you log in as a site administrator. Our caching system may set a technical cookie to serve pages quickly.

For full details, see our Cookie Policy.

4. How we use information

We use the limited information we collect to:

  • run, secure and improve the website,
  • reply to your emails and questions,
  • moderate comments and block spam,
  • understand overall site usage,
  • meet legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for targeted advertising.

5. Sharing information

We only share information when it’s needed to run the site or required by law:

  • Hosting and infrastructure providers, who store the website and its server logs on our behalf.
  • Spam protection services, if used to check comments.
  • Legal reasons, if we’re required to by law, court order or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

Third-party libraries used by the Tool (for example, the MP3 encoder) run inside your browser and do not receive your files.

6. Embedded content and external links

Articles may link to other websites, such as software download pages. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we’re not responsible for how they handle your data. Please review their policies before sharing information with them.

7. How long we keep data

  • Your audio files: never stored by us.
  • Emails: kept as long as needed to handle your request, then deleted within a reasonable time.
  • Comments: kept until you ask us to remove them or the post is removed.
  • Server logs: kept for a limited period by our hosting provider for security purposes.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you,
  • ask us to correct or delete it,
  • object to or limit how we use it,
  • receive a copy of your data,
  • withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To make a request, email hello@openoggfile.com. We’ll reply within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

9. Children’s privacy

openoggfile.com is a general-audience website. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

10. Security

We use HTTPS to encrypt traffic between your browser and our website, and we keep our software up to date. Because the Tool processes files in your browser, your audio is never exposed to our server in the first place. No website is 100% secure, but we work to protect the small amount of data we handle.

11. International visitors

Our website may be hosted on servers outside your country. By using the site, you understand that the limited technical data described above may be processed in those locations.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
